Clinical research is something many people in Charlotte, NC have probably heard about, but they may not realize it is being down in their very own city. This type of research is essential in the medical community as it drives the finding and invention of new ways to diagnose, treat, and even cure, various diseases and disorders.
Clinical research is done in all areas of medicine. Most people have likely heard of it in the news in response to developing recent new vaccines. But, clinical research is also used in dental offices, cancer treatments, and even in dermatology offices.
Clinical research at Dermatology Specialists of Charlotte
The team at Dermatology Specialists of Charlotte is proud to participle in research and clinical research trials. Trials are the testing of new treatments. We often have research trials going on and are looking for patients to participate.
Currently, we have three research trials that we are searching for participants for Alopecia areata, Atopic dermatitis and Acne Vulgaris. You can always find a listing of our current clinical research projects on our website.
Who can participate?
People participate in research for many reasons. Some are simply looking for a way to help others, others may be looking for a way to earn money (though not all research or trials is paid). Others still may be patients for whom current treatments are not working or not working well.
Whatever the reason or reasons you are considering participating in research, not everyone is able to participate in all research or trials. Each trial will have criteria people must meet to be a part of the study. This can include having the disease or disorder that is being researched, meeting certain age requirements, and the ability to commit to a certain number of visits to the doctor.
