Due to the push for new treatments due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s all over the news, in the papers, and in our everyday jargon. But, did you know clinical research is constantly going on? And it is being done in a variety of areas, including treating skin concerns?
Clinical research helps find new treatments, cures, and even testing options
Clinical research is an important part of any medical trade. This research helps physicians of all kinds find new ways to test for diseases and illnesses, while also working to find new ways to treat or even cure them.
At Dermatology Specialists of Charlotte, we are always looking for the best ways to treat and help our patients. That’s why we participate in clinical research projects. Throughout the year, we may offer many different clinical trials our patients may be able to participate in. Trials are the testing that is done as part of clinical research. You can always find a list of our current projects online, but your doctor will also mention it to you if they think it is something that can help.
People participate for many reasons
Though the benefits of clinical research are clear, many people may not understand why people decide to participle in clinical trials for it. But, there are many reasons. Some patients may turn to experimental treatments if they are no longer responding to tried treatments. For example, you may have acne that is resistant to the traditional methods of treating it. Your dermatologist may then recommend a new treatment to see if that is able to help.
